We believe that government transparency is fundamental for a healthy democracy. The volunteers of the Greater Birmingham Observer Corps seek to keep citizens informed about the actions of government as it conducts the people's business.
Our volunteers are committed to unbiased, objective reporting on government bodies in this community. They are trained and certified by the League of Women Voters of Greater Birmingham.
Our Spring 2017 Observer Corps Training Class is full, but we do need more dedicated volunteers. If you are interested in the work that we do and would like to be considered as a GBOC volunteer in the near future, please contact the League of Women Voters at 205 583-5000.
